I love the specific ways in which AI is terrible
My favorite new feature on the app is the one that pops one of these notifications up whenever I reblog something with an image in it. I find it especially charming that they stack up and don’t go away on their own.
Tumblr users and staff are locked in an eternal battle
I hate this one so much

Steve had always wanted to be a skilled fighter. The schools that churned out the best fighters all happened to be schools for holy warriors. It was possible that Steve maybe sort of lied a little (with the help of his friends Robin and Dustin) to get into this school by claiming he was full to the brim of religious fervor but hadn’t decided who to pledge his sword to yet. It shouldn’t have worked, if he were honest with himself, but by some stroke of luck it did, and he finished his training as one of the top combatants.
The issue now was that he had to pick a god whose crest to carry. There were all sorts of gods. Gods of water, gods of air, gods of agriculture, war gods, cat gods, plant gods…the list was endless. And while Steve was one of the best fighters around, he was most definitely not one of the best researchers. Thankfully Dustin and Robin were very clever and knew where to find details about the many gods in existence.
“So what kind of god do you want to follow? Maybe we can start there,” Robin asked.
“Uh…a good one?”
“You’re no help at all, you know that?” Dustin grumbled.
They suggested a local god known as Carver who stood for righteousness, but Steve turned that down. It didn’t feel like a good fit. They suggested a love god by the name of Chrissy, who valued love of all kinds, romantic, platonic, familial…Steve had been tempted, very tempted, because Steve had always carried an excess of love in his heart. Robin had vetoed that one stating that Steve was already too reckless with his love and she wouldn’t stand by and watch him break his own heart over and over again.
Part Two out of Six of Meddling ;). Part One. AO3 Link.
“That’s good! Now Steve, don’t look like you’re in so much pain.”
It’s only been about five minutes, and Steve is already tired of the pictures. Robin has put them in so many awkward stock photo poses that he has started to wonder how this could ever be fun like Eddie said.
What makes things worse is he knows that Eddie feels the same way because he’s so damn tense. Honestly, the whole thing feels fake and unnatural, and for some reason, it upsets Steve although this is exactly what he signed up for.
Nancy winces at the most recent photo she’s taken and says, “Okay, how about we take a break?”
“Thank god,” Steve sighs in relief and sits on the couch. Eddie ends up sprawling out next to him until he shoves him a bit.
“Move a little so I can get comfortable.”
Steve nudges him back. “It’s an L-shaped couch. Take the other side.”
“I’m not moving away from that sweater. Come here, my love,” Eddie says dramatically while reaching out to the sweater.
Steve rolls his eyes again and sprawls out next to Eddie until he’s basically spooning him. “Close enough to it?”
Eddie pulls him in a little closer. “Maybe now.”
Steve smiles a bit to himself and closes his eyes. He doesn’t know why the pictures have been so exhausting, but he’s glad it’s led to this moment.
The camera shutter goes off again. Steve cracks an eye open.
Nancy smiles at him and walks away, staring at whatever picture she just took.
“Steve! You’ve got to help me. I panicked, and I told my Tinder date that you and Eddie have been dating for two years!” Robin yells as she storms into their living room.
Luckily, Steve’s gotten used to her entering their apartment in such a way over the past few years, but he barely registers what she says in her haste. He takes a moment to stare at her with his eyebrows drawn together in confusion, hoping the words will eventually make sense.
They don’t.
“What?"
Robin paces back and forth while gesturing wildly with her hands. "You know how I do the thing where I ramble around girls I find really really hot? Well, I was doing that, and I brought you up and kept going on about how annoying my roommate is-"
"Are you kidding m-"
Robin continues as if she didn’t just insult him. "And she kind of stopped and look at me and said, ‘Your roommate is a guy?’ And I got confused and said yes because why would I lie? And she got all uncomfortable and started asking more questions like if you were gay or straight, and I told her you were bi, and she got even weirder! So, eventually I just straight up asked her what was wrong, and she said that she didn’t want to go out with me if my roommate was potentially into me. So I told her that wasn’t a problem because you’ve been dating Eddie for two years.” She finishes with that awkward lip bite she does which can be oddly endearing sometimes. But it’s not this time.
Steve leans forward on the couch. “I’m sorry. You still want to go out with a girl who has no trust in my ability to keep things in my pants? As if she doesn’t trust that you’re a lesbian and if I ever made a move on you, you would absolutely punch me in the throat."
Robin sits next to him and grabs his hands. "She’s so so hot, Steve. Please."
Steve rolls his eyes. "Fine, you can keep telling her that I’m dating Eddie, I guess."
Robin breaks eye contact and starts picking at her nail polish.
Well, that’s not a great sign. "What aren’t you telling me?"
just in case anyone missed this in the news or maybe not in the loop, Disney is currently refusing to meet with or acknowledge the newly formed animation production workers union that just voted to join IASTE and become an official part of TAG, the animators and animation artists guild
production workers across all studios are currently voting to be recognized for their hard work and invaluable skill at keeping these productions running, but studios are refusing to meet with them to let them negotiate deals or even exist
as someone who works in animation as a designer i know i wouldn’t be able to do my job at all without any of my production workers. they are the incredibly hard working people who oversee pretty much everything in animation. they make sure everything is running on time, that schedules are being followed, they have to know pretty much every single word of the scripts and beats from the storyboards to make sure nothing is missed, and most importantly, they make sure artists are being taken care of and not overworked. they really are the unsung heroes of the animation world
production workers are also by far the most exploited workers in animation currently. they make about a fraction of what artists make for just as much work put in, and currently have no agreement for health coverage or other benefits that artists protected by the union are guaranteed
BUT! there is some good news. right now there’s a petition on IATSE’s website that has over 80,000 signatures currently addressed to disney leadership to do the right thing and meet with this new union and recognized their vote to form. it still needs roughly 21,000 signatures and only takes a minute to sign! anyone with a zip or postal code can sign, meaning both US and Canadian residents can sign and help this union get the deal it deserves!!
i was able to sign from Germany so international zip codes also seem to work!
CGI animators should unionize next. normally, their jobs would be too precarious to strike, since studios would replace them without a second thought, but if it’s part of this larger general film strike, they might finally have meaningful power to better their working conditions
if CGI animators unionized, it would kill the MCU. straight up. the the entire business model is built on exploiting CGI animators
THEY ARE TRYING!!!!! SIGN THE PETITION TO GET THE DISNEY ANIMATORS’ UNION RECOGNIZED
